CVS Gift Card Stretcher: Final Results

CVS/pharmacy

So, my sister got me a $25 CVS gift card for Christmas, and I wanted to see how much I could buy at CVS for $25. Six months later, I finally finished the project, and here are the results. If you want to see the specifics, you can see the detailed posts here

Spent: $25.57
Saved: $112.49
Total Value: $138.06
Percent Savings: 81%

Doing a gift card challenge with the drugstores is a good way to make sure that plan your transactions carefully to spend the least amount of money out of pocket. I'd say that this was a success!

If you have to go to the grocery store on a Sunday, a few minutes after opening is definitely the best time to go. No one is there. They hadn't even cut on all of the lights in the freezers and such. The great thing about drug store rewards programs is that they allows you to save money on expensive items that rarely go on sale and/or sale items whose prices are still not good enough. For this Sarna lotion ($12.49 regular price), I also had a $3 off $10 first-aid purchase CVS coupon from the CVS coupon machine, which helped defray the cost. This product is on sale at Walmart.com (using the "In My Store" option) for $9.00 with a regular price there of $10.32.
