CVS: Free Candy, $10 Back on $50 Gift Card!

Okay. So there's no point in doing a Spent/Saved for this. I went mainly for the iTunes card. There was a $10 ECB back on that. I also got $1 back in ECB for my reusable bag during this trip. The candy was listed as $3.50, but it rang up at $3.00. I had a $3.00 ECB to spend, which made this candy free except for the $0.20 in sales tax. Awesome trip.

Political Party Differences on Spending

When it comes to spending, it seems like there is the only one small difference between the two parties:

  • Democrats don't want to cut anything except for perhaps the military and special tax breaks.
  • Republicans want to cut everything except for the program(s) from which they as individuals receive benefits.
Nevermind. There doesn't seem to be that much of a difference after all.

Publix Promise Again! $0.48 for this!

Spent: $0.48

So, I went to Publix last night because I forgot some stuff. The Johnsonville Italian sausage was priced at $3.99 on the shelf. I had a  $1.00 coupon to go with it. However, it rang up at $4.29 on the register. I caught it and had the price verified. Publix's policy is to give you the item for free if the price rings up differently than the price listed on the shelf. On top of that, they still scanned the coupon! That $1.00 of overage helped to cover the green beans!

The biggest deal at Winn-Dixie was the Buy One Get One Free sale for the Mr. Clean products.  You are allowed to combine cents/dollars off coupons with "Get X when you buy Y" coupons. I got four bottles, which meant that I would pay for two of them and get two of them free. My Buy Two Get One Free coupon attached to one of the paid bottles, making it free. Then I added three $0.75 coupons, which attached to the other three items. That made them about a quarter each! Regular price is $3.29!

So, I was able to get a Proctor & Gamble insert from a friend today, and I went ahead and bought another paper as well (that underwent a PRICE INCREASE today). I needed the Febreze coupons to buy some refills to go with the Febreze NOTICEables warmer I got for free from Walmart.  I had $6.50 in ECBs to use. I had $4.00 from my last purchase, $2.00 from the CVS MoneyTrasher promotion, and $0.50 ECBs from my quarterly spending. I certainly don't get too many ECBs from quarterly spending, because I don't get to spend too much at CVS! :-) Here we go!

Orlando Sentinel Decides Not to Print P&G for My Route Today

So, I subscribe to the Orlando Sentinel. Other than some delivery issues when I first subscribed that was fixed with account credits, I haven't had issues with them since. I've certainly never had a missing insert.

So today, I thumb through my newspaper before church because I have some Proctor & Gamble stuff  I want to get from CVS this morning. Behold, there is no insert!  I usually  clip a lot from the P&G inserts, and the day I actually plan to use it, it's missing! I call the Sentinel, and they say that the insert was not printed for my route. What's up with that? Now, I have to go to the store and BUY another paper just to get the insert I need? If I didn't have a $4/$20 CVS coupon that expires tomorrow, I would just order the insert from a clipping service or something out of protest of giving Orlando Sentinel more money.

Well, at least the newspaper will pay for itself...

I didn't quite push over 50%, but that's how it is most of the time on a low-carb diet. I RARELY buy fresh meat from Publix because of the prices, but the right price on beef ribs combined with a competitor coupon made it a good deal.
