Bi-Lo: First Experience w/ Doubling and Half Price BOGO

Spent: $5.43
Saved: $15.20
Total Value: $20.63
Percent Saved: 74%

So, I am in South Carolina visiting family this weekend. Given that there are more traditional grocery chains here than in Central Florida, I thought I'd take advantage of that and buy some non-perishables.   Unfortunately, there weren't too many super deals in the ads for the stores like Kroger, Food Lion, Piggly Wiggly, Bi-Lo, and Publix. (Yes, I was going to scout Publix because they double coupons everywhere except Florida and southern Georgia. So, whatever I bought with coupons worth $0.50 or less would be cheaper here than in Florida.)

Anyway, I found two products at Bi-Lo that were great deals. I messed up a little bit on the Scotties facial tissues though. It was buy one get one free, and I naturally picked up four to couple with my $0.50 off three coupon that would double to $1.00. However, BOGO items outside of Florida ring up for half price, negating the need to purchase them in pairs. That only resulted in me paying $0.10 more per box, so it's not the end of the world. Since Florida doesn't double, I still got a better deal!

Office Depot: Printer Deal

Spent: $46.16
Saved: $53.83
Total Value: $99.83
Percent Saved: 60%

So, MacOS X Lion, Epson printers, and Coupons.com weren't getting along with each other. My coupons were printing at 30% of their size and not scanning. I got tired of holding up lines and explaining the issue to cashiers. There were no known troubleshooting techniques available. So, I dumped my Epson and bought this Brother MFC-J430W printer. My coupons print properly now. Yes! I used $17.73 in Office Depot rewards that I earned from December's 100% back offer on Energizer batteries as well as previous ink purchases and recycling to pay for the printer. Did I mention that the ink for this printer is cheaper than that for the Epson? Awesome!

Publix: Bacon Cheaper Than This?

Spent: $11.15
Saved: $23.78
Total Value: $34.93
Percent Saved: 68%

So, I got some coupons from a clipping service just in time for the final day of the Publix sale cycle. I had some extra $1.00 off two Publix coupons for the bacon that I wasn't going to use before the February 12 expiration date, so I left those on the shelf for others to take. I was supposed to pick up another pair of Planter's Nuts that were $0.90 a bottle, but I forgot. Pretty amazing deal on bacon considering the regular price for Smithfield, Oscar Meyer, and Hormel is $6.99-$7.99!

Sedano's: No Coupons & Still DESTROY "Discount" Store Prices

Spent: $14.45

There is an Aldi pretty much next door to Sedano's. Aldi would have been a rip-off. Sedano's used to let you get two bags of leg quarters when they have this sale, but I found out at the register that it is only one. Oh, well. I think I'm stocked up for February. My total before the chicken was $10.55. Awesome!

Chicken Leg Quarters, 10lbs, $0.39/lb with a $10 purchase.

(Unaware of Aldi's price on this).

CVS (Again): Super Cheap Body Wash! $0.57 Each Plus $7 Back

Spent: $2.28
Saved: $16.96
Total Value: $19.24
Percent Saved: 88%

ECBs Used: $7.00
ECBs Earned: $7.00

So, I ended up taking another trip to CVS. I could have done this last night, but I didn't realize that this would be a good deal until today. I was banking on scoring a good deal on the B3G1 Free deal on Gillette body wash at Publix, but the calculation on the blog I followed for that info was wrong.

(4) Irish Spring Body Wash/3 Pack Bar Soap, $3.00 Sale
$6.00 in ECBs wyb $12 in Select Items
(3) $1.00 off Irish Spring Body Wash  Coupon
(1) $0.50 off Irish Spring Bar Soap Coupon

Used $6.00 ECB from yesterday.
Used $1.00 old ECB.

Got $6.00 back for this transaction and $1.00 back for having a reusable bag.

CVS: Free Free Free (Except Tax) + $6 Back!

Spent: $0.78
Saved: $20.34
Total Value: $21.12
Percent Saved: 96%

ECBs Used: $0.00
ECBs Earned: $6.00

This was a great deal! I used three BOGO coupons from the 1/29 RedPlum newspaper insert. The coupons  rang up for $3.99 each, which is more than the price of the product. I alerted the cashier, but the cashier said that's how it would ring up. I expected to spend $5.00 out of pocket and get $6.00 back in ECBs, but I ended up just paying sales tax and getting $6.00 back in ECBs! I could have gotten three more of the coupons and did a second transaction, but I am not a shelf-clearer (though there were PLENTY in stock) and I'd probably drown with that much deodorant. Props to True Couponing for the heads up!
