When I saw the rotisserie chicken and Proctor & Gamble deal in the ad, I thought I was going to pass. But then I got to Publix and they had the "Running In, Running Out" coupon sheets in the kiosk on the way in with $2 Bounty store coupons. That got me. The downside is that I was there in the morning, and the deli didn't have the chicken ready. So I did have to wait a while, but it was free! Here are the highlights.

Walgreens: Free is Good

Spent: $10.71
Saved: $26.00
Total Value: $36.71
Percent Saved: 71%

This was done in three transactions. I only planned to do two, but I learned that if you buy the same Register Reward item in a transaction, only one of them will print. Thankfully, they gave me a refund and I was able to separate the items and get both Register Rewards. Luck would have it that Walgreen's equivalent of Cerave face wash was on clearance, so I used the Register Rewards to get them for free! I had to buy a $0.10 piece of candy to cover the negative balance!

Transaction #1 and #2

Sleep Sheets, $4.99 Sale
$5.00 in Register Rewards

Transaction #3

(2) Walgreen's Hydrating Cleanser, $4.99

This Winn-Dixie trip was a little different than I planned. I didn't think I would spend much money, so I only brought one $5/$30 coupon with me, which I used at Publix. Furthermore, I thought I would use a coupon on the salad, but the Spring Mix wasn't a good price. There is a personal care item that is not pictured that was an unadvertised deal as well. Nevertheless, the deals I got were great. There were tons of unadvertised deals that will warrant me going back before the cycle ends.

Publix: Raincheck Savings!

Saved: $37.00
Total Value: $63.22
Percent Saved: 58%

In March, I made a raincheck for the Blue Diamond Honey Roasted Almonds when they were Buy One Get One Free. They finally arrived! There was a mix-up with the size of the package, and the one Publix thought I wanted was discontinued. Walgreens is the only store that I know of that sells this flavor, and their base price is $3.59. Publix's price is $3.19. Publix also has a policy of allowing you to use expired coupons with a raincheck as long as that coupon was available at the time of the intended purchase. That definitely came in favor for this.

I had a raincheck on the Scotch-Brite wipes that were on sale about a month ago. There was a BOGO coupon out, so the shelves were completely empty. They were finally there today. Thankfully, like Publix, Winn-Dixie will take an expired coupon on a rain checked item if it scans. However, check out was really long because of the raincheck. However, I was able to make it out paying the right price on the wipes, which was NOTHING! I also bought a $50.00 Shell gift card because there was a $0.10 fuelperks! offer when you buy $50 worth of store gift cards.

Publix: Substitute!

Total Value: $46.21

The highlight of this trip was the soda, cereal and dressing. Too bad the milk price was unacceptable. I'll probably grab that from a drug store. The soda coupons I had were for Pepsi Next, but Publix didn't have the 2 liter bottles. I had a Publix Coupon from their yellow Advantage Buy ad, but it appeared as though this store didn't carry the item in 2 liters at all. The manager allowed me to substitute regular Pepsi. I ended up paying $0.34 for that soda!

Bi-Lo: Wouldn't Be Free in Florida

Spent: $0.04 (sales tax)
Saved: $1.79
Total Value: $1.83
Percent Saved: 100%

Well, I made a visit to South Carolina this weekend, where grocery shopping is WAY more competitive than Florida. All traditional grocery stores (Publix, Bi-Lo, Piggly Wiggly, Kroger, and Food Lion) double coupons with values up to $0.50. They also have half-price BOGO. Items that are Buy One Get One Free ring up at half the price, negating the necessity to buy two items. That helps if you only have one coupon. However, Florida has a slight an advantage with true BOGO if you have BOGO coupons. Publix also has the Publix Penny Item promotion on Wednesdays that they don't have in their Florida stores or Georgia stores that are on the border with Florida. Unfortunately, there weren't too many good deals for items I use, so I just gone one. Well, at least it was free!
